Biography
A master of the perfect mix, Russell Bush can completely transform a raw space or magically weave a new ambiance into an existing framework. Extolled for his deft hand with unusual textiles, antiques, custom-designed furniture, and detailed upholstery, he strives to reflect the unique personality and taste of each of his clients.
Russell has designed for an international roster from New York to Mumbai. He has appeared in such magazines as Elle Decor, House Beautiful, W magazine’s Black Book, and The New York Times Magazine, which named him “Most Likely to Become a Legend.” His work was also featured in the New York Observer’s home design supplement and Rizzoli’s books Litchfield Style and Rooms to Inspire: In the City. He has been repeatedly included in House Beautiful’s design directory of “America’s Top 100 Interior Designers.”
Prior to decorating, Russell worked as a fashion designer, and helped the legendary Diana Vreeland mount a number of her exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. Bush also worked with Peter Marino & Associates Architects for 10 years, where he was head of Interiors.
Russell avidly pursues collage, drawing, and alternative process photography, all of which influence his work with interiors and hone his keen eye for detail. Unlike many of his peers who are known for a specific style, Russell enjoys working in, and is fluent in, any style — correct colonial to cutting-edge contemporary. He prides himself on creating distinctive environments that reflect his clients’ own special requirements, collections, and aesthetic dreams.
